01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of Ventas in Madrid, EL CAPOTE VENTAS offers an authentic blend of traditional Spanish cuisine with creative, modern twists that delight both locals and visitors alike. This charming taberna taurina captures the spirit of Spain’s rich culinary heritage through dishes that are as flavorful as they are comforting.

From the moment you step inside, the restaurant’s sophisticated yet cozy décor sets the tone for an inviting dining experience. The elegant atmosphere is accentuated by a touch of contemporary flair, making it a perfect spot whether you’re seeking a casual breakfast, a leisurely lunch, or a relaxed evening gathering. The terrace invites guests to enjoy sunny days in an open-air setting, adding to the overall appeal.

EL CAPOTE VENTAS shines with its expertly prepared traditional offerings—the croquetas are delectably creamy with a golden crust that promises a satisfying crunch, while the chicken wings stand out for their spectacular seasoning and tender juiciness. If you visit around lunchtime, the menú del día provides exceptional value, typically priced near 11 to 12 euros, including a drink and dessert, making it easy to savor multiple courses without stretching your budget.

Beyond classic dishes, the kitchen embraces creative fusion, weaving inventive elements into familiar favorites. This duality caters to a wide range of palates, whether you prefer comforting Spanish staples or are in search of something with a contemporary twist. Breakfast is equally inviting here—imagine a crisp tosta paired with freshly brewed café, all for less than 5 euros. It’s the perfect way to start your day energized and ready to explore.

The staff enhance the experience with their welcoming and attentive service. Many guests have noticed the warmth and friendliness that permeate the room, with servers ready to guide you through the menu and recommend the house specialties. While there is occasional variance in expertise, overall the team ensures that every visit feels personalized. Some lucky patrons even get a delightful visit from a charming little mascot, adding a playful note to their meal.

For those coming from Las Ventas bullring, EL CAPOTE VENTAS is a prime spot to unwind before or after the spectacle. The combination of perfectly poured beer and flavorful tapas creates a convivial atmosphere ideal for sharing stories and celebrating the local culture.

In all, EL CAPOTE VENTAS exemplifies Madrid’s culinary warmth and passion. Whether you’re seeking a rich culinary journey through traditional Spanish flavors or a spot to relax with friends while enjoying expertly crafted dishes, this restaurant offers a memorable, authentic dining experience that calls you back again and again.

El Capote is a hidden gem in Madrid! They have your traditional Spanish dishes and also more creative, fusion options. Everything is very well priced. Menú del día is about 11€-12€ including a drink and dessert. 5€ will go far for breakfast getting you at least una tosta y café. My breakfast seen below was 3,90€ total. Staff is extra friendly, and if you’re lucky you’ll get a visit from a cute little pup!

Good service, nice people and HANDS DOWN the best food we've tasted in Spain. And we've been to the expensive places. It's not the cheapest place but the value is exceedingly high. You won't regret it.
